In Between Horizons - Solo Show
March 7 - May 17, 2026
“In the context of spring, renewal, and collective reflection, ankydyn gallery artist Shushanik Karapetyan invites us to linger in moments that resist closure, proposing the in-between not as a temporary condition to be resolved, but as a space of presence, potential, and shared experience. Opening at Aubergine Cafe in Queens on March 7th, the artist’s second solo in her home neighborhood will feature abstract, color-driven paintings of portals, landscapes, embryonic and vessel-like forms.”

Painting Workshop: Miracle of Life
Saturday, May 9 • 6:30 PM - 8 PM
Overview
A guided experience to help you unleash your creativity and discover the magic behind the miracle of life on canvas!
Join artist and psychotherapist Shushanik Karapetyan for an immersive painting workshop exploring the theme Miracle of Life.
The experience begins with a guided imagery and somatic grounding exercise, inviting participants to connect deeply with the workshop’s theme.
This is followed by a brief reflective writing session to surface personal associations and inspiration.
Participants will then move into the painting process, where they will be guided to:
Blend colors seamlessly
Use masking tape as a creative tool
Develop a personal, signature color palette
Each participant will create and take home a five-inch round painting interpreting their own vision of a “miracle.”
Held in proximity to Mother’s Day, this workshop is open to mothers, mothers-to-be, and anyone who has a mother - an invitation to reflect on origins, connection, and the many forms of creation and care.
This workshop is presented as part of the exhibition In Between Horizons at Aubergine Café, featuring work by Shushanik Karapetyan and curated by Raluca Anchidin.
* All materials are included in the ticket price.
Aubergine Café is walking distance from the 7 train stations at 46th and 52nd St. in Sunnyside-Woodside.
